The IDB Condominial Sanitation Initiative / SaniHUB brings together four technical guides designed to support the implementation of Condominial sewerage systems in Latin America and the Caribbean. The guides were conceived as complementary documents: each can be read independently and, together, they cover the full lifecycle of a Condominial project, from network design to contract regularization.
This introductory handbook has three functions. The first is to place the SaniHUB initiative in context and explain the choice of open-source software and the Condominial approach. The second is to describe the implementation workflow of a Condominial system and present its fifteen stages, providing all the guides in the collection with a common methodological framework. The third is to introduce each of the four guides in a concise manner and indicate when to consult them.
The collection is intended for technical and social teams of sanitation service providers, public managers, community leaders, non-governmental organizations, and consulting firms involved in the design and implementation of Condominial projects. The content is practical: each guide provides steps, examples, tools, and references for immediate application.
